Asthma is a respiratory disease that causes coughing, difficulty in breathing and tightening in the chest. I would know. I'm one asthmatic girl. SINCE BIRTH. Not only do I have that, but I also have skin asthma. SINCE BIRTH. It is hereditary so I'm really mad at my ancestors for passing it to me. Not only do I frequently have asthma attacks and wake up in the middle of the night because I can't breathe but also, I have allergies that appear whenever I eat some of the world's yummiest food and whenever I get too stressed out. Yeah, you read it right - whenever I'm stressed out. THANK YOU ANCESTORS!!
I haven't had my skin allergies since high school but they magically appeared again this year due to all the pressures in my college life. It would have not been a big deal because I can put cream on it, drink ridiculously priced allergy medicines for it and it will go away. But, it is a big deal because it stained my seemingly precious legs specifically the left one. My dermatologist said it will be cleared after some time but for the mean time, I have to deal with it. It makes me insecure and not want to wear short shorts which I really love to do before. AGAIN, THANK YOU ANCESTORS!
Aside from that, asthma wakes me up in the middle of the night because I can't breathe. I always need my inhaler , which is my life savior, beside me so that I could just puff it and feel good again. Although I have this frequent difficulty-in-breathing sessions, I never really had an asthma attack in the past few months until last week. First, I started having colds (wednesday) which I thought was just nothing until my throat started to itch (thursday)and my appetite just zeroed. I feared I was going to have an A-attack because this were the symptoms I always have before an A-attack. Next morning (friday), I woke up having a really difficult time breathing that even my inhaler couldn't help. I stayed the whole day lying in bed because guess what? Every little move would make me catch my breath. The thought of the fact that second semester will begin in the following week panicked me because I did not want to be absent on the first day of class so I doubled the usual dosage of medicine I take and the next day (saturday) I felt a little better.
My mom asked me if I was well enough to go get groceries and shopping with her and I told her that I think I'm good as long as I'd puff the inhaler every now and then and as long as we would move slowly. We were in the supermarket then and it made me laugh how slow I was pushing the cart and if I were a car - I was running 20km/hr like a funeral car. Hahaha! Not only that, whenever I have to get something, I was moving in a slow motion. SO, LET ME THANK MY ANCESTORS AGAIN! Although I managed it through the day, it wasn't fun moving like a woman in her 80s.
I just really hope that when the time comes I'll have my own kids, they won't get this precious gift my ancestors gave me.
